Annisa Aprilia Music Studio

A musical journey

I was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia where I was exposed to a wide variety of music as a child. My parents are a big fan of musicals, and I can say that I did learn to sing before I knew how to talk. Music has been my passion since I was very young.

My first favorite musical was “The Sound of Music”, I have watched it many times since age 2 and memorized all the songs, and until now “The Sound of Music” is still the number one on my favorites list. And off course, like many other children, I grew up with Disney classics and was always fascinated by the songs in their movies.

During my school years, I participated in many music activities. I was a member of the school choir and ensemble. We performed in many school events and also participated in a choir competition. After high school graduation, I continued my studies in Universitas Trisakti (Trisakti University), Jakarta, majoring in Law. I completed my Law degree in April 2005.

I started piano lessons when I was 5 years old in Yayasan Musik Indonesia under the guidance of Mrs. Lena Yudha. In year 1997, I was accepted in Sekolah Musik YPM (YPM Music School), Jakarta and continued my music studies there. I graduated from their Pre-Conservatory Program in 2002, majoring in Piano. In 1999, I started my second instrument, violin, in the same music school. I finished the primary program (violin) in 2003, and continued learning the violin under the Pre-Conservatory Program until 2005.

My first teaching experience began in YPM Music School where I used to teach music theory to Pre-Elementary and Elementary level students. I also taught private piano lessons in various music studios in Jakarta. In my first year of teaching, I realized how much I enjoyed being a music teacher. I continued teaching in Jakarta until July 2005, when I married my husband and moved to US.

I currently reside in Beaverton, Oregon. In addition to being a provisional member of Oregon Music Teacher Association (OMTA), and teaching piano & violin lessons, I was also a member of Hillsboro Symphony Orchestra between 2007-2008.

Music is my passion and it will always be a part of who I am. I thank God for my wonderful parents and husband who encourage me in everything I do. I love teaching music and sharing what I love the most with all my students.
